Technical Tips and Tricks:  Natus HD - XLTEK Ambulatory Systems

Does your practice own the Natus HD - XLTEK tablet for ambulatory Video-EEG studies?  Did you know you can run a PSG test as well?

Both SleepWorks and NeuroWorks are installed on your system.

With your purchase came 2 head box labels:  one for EEG and one for PSG

Why is this exciting?

Often for a practice to expand services a significant equipment purchase is required.

For a system to have dual usage is a bonus!

Just select the arrow button from the drop down menu next to New Patient to toggle between a new EEG patient or a new PSG patient.

Many of our Neurology patients present with sleep disturbances.  PSG or Polysomnography testing can help identify whether other sleep concerns are present; for example, obstructive sleep apnea.  The study will document the adequacy of sleep and will record both normal or the presence of abnormal physiologic activity over the course of the night.

PSG’s can also be used to evaluate other sleep conditions, such as narcolepsy, idiopathic hypersomnia, REM behavior disorder, and periodic limb movements during sleep.

Since Registered PSG Technologists fall under the umbrella of Neurodiagnostics not only does the equipment serve a dual function but finding or cross-training staff can as well.
